The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership

I chose this as the first book because in all of my collection, it is by far the most complete. If you are never going to read another book about leadership (a decision I definitely do not recommend) this would be the one to do it with. Maxwell describes this book as a compilation of everything he has learned in his over forty years of experience teaching and developing leaders. Learning these 21 concepts helped me spot some of the pitfalls I was experiencing in my leadership without knowing why I was encountering some difficulties. Every semester when I teach my course on leadership development at our church, my students are given this book to read.

During the month of September my book club will be reading the 21 Irrefutable laws of leadership- if you want to be part of the club, get yourself a copy and tell let us know what you think:

Which of the 21 Laws most impacted you and why?

Was there any law you found difficult to understand?

Did you relate to any of the stories in the book? Have you made similar mistakes or met similar characters?

What strengths or weaknesses did you discover you had after reading that you hadn’t seen before?

“Everything rises and falls on leadership, these laws carry consequences with them. I’ve seen them at work in more than ninety countries around the world. Apply the laws and people will follow you. Violate or ignore them, and you will not be able to lead others. But here’s the good news: every one of the laws can be learned.” - John C. Maxwell
